Early Skunk Automatic cannabis seeds are our latest refinement of this superb strain. These outdoor cannabis seeds produce plants whose autoflowering ability allows them to finish even earlier than their parent strain and flower well even in locations with irregular light cycles.
The first Skunk strains were released before indoor cultivation was widespread. Outdoor growers in continental climates have often found it difficult to get the most out of these new, highly potent indica-sativa strains. The particularly dense skunk buds were prone to fungal attack at the end of summer. In theory, these first unacclimatized Skunk hybrids were fast enough to finish flowering outdoors in the north. However, just as the buds were reaching their fattest, ripest point, they could easily be ruined by the cool, humid weather of early fall. To avoid this frustration, growers in the northern summers often had no choice but to harvest their most exotic plants before they had reached their full bud potential.
Sensi Seeds solved this problem by crossing Skunk #1 with our trusty Early Pearl to create Early Skunk. In fact, the problem was solved in two different ways, as the regular Early Skunk finishes flowering a good two weeks earlier than Skunk #1 outdoors and is also resistant to mold and fungi.
Plants grown from seed begin to flower after a period of vegetative growth, rather than being induced to flower by a short or diminishing photoperiod (hours of light per day). With Early Skunk Automatic, this is usually when the plants develop their 6th to 9th pair of mature leaves - which usually takes 6 to 8 weeks in good growing conditions. The buds are generally at their most mature 7 to 9 weeks after flowering begins.
With the veg season set at around two months, growers can decide when to germinate their Early Skunk Automatic cannabis seeds so that flowering occurs during the sunniest months rather than late summer or fall. This is especially useful in short summers, when the weather can turn bad well before the autumnal equinox.
Early Skunk Automatic is an indica-dominant strain with a sativa component inherited from both sides of its lineage. Early Pearl is a predominantly sativa-dominant outdoor strain, while Skunk #1 is known to have an indica-dominant growth pattern and a strong sativa element to its effect.
At harvest time, almost all of this strain's weight comes from the large, solid buds that cluster around the top nodes and bracts of each plant. The buds at the top of the branches and main stem converge to form broad, rounded colas, while the lower buds tend to form solid individual clumps, giving Early Skunk Automatic a top-heavy appearance.
Her maturing buds have a definite Skunk element to her scent - musky, sweet and pungent. Skunk strains of all types usually need to control their distinctive bud smell when grown indoors. Outdoors, of course, this is much less of an issue.
Up close, Early Skunk Automatic can exude a heady aroma when her abundant resin glands are slightly disturbed, e.g. B. when growers examine their maturing buds. From a distance, this strain shouldn't produce more smell than any other cannabis strain grown outdoors.
After drying, the buds remain sticky due to a thick, velvety layer of resin glands. Her sweet Skunk aroma has pungent, spicy undertones from the added sativa component of this strain. Our most popular and strongest specimens have a more open flower structure and extra large calyxes. Plants with a denser, closed Afghani bud formation can produce slightly more yield per plant.
